"The Challenge" from "Epic: the Musical" (Flute arrangement)

Today’s flute cover is “The Challenge” from Jorge Rivera-Herran’s “EPIC: the Musical, the Ithaca Saga”. This can be played as a solo or a duet with the optional second flute part.

This is first song of the final saga on this cover. “The Challenge” is somber strong solo sung by Penelope as she sadly contemplates the time arriving to start the challenge she arranged to find a suitor to wear crown of Ithaca as Odysseus is not there. That challenge being to string her husband’s old bow and shoot through 12 axes cleanly. The disgusting suitors are chomping at the bits to start and take her as their own. However, she reveals that she has been unthreading the shroud in Odysseus’s memory every night to avoid picking a suitor and buying Odysseus time to return. As she would rather be alone or even die, then go on without her husband. She would be here, waiting for him. This is such a beautiful somber melody filled with strength, yearn, and emotion as she continues holding onto hope that Odysseus will return in the midst of the suitors getting restless that she won’t pick them. That the only man who holds her heart is Odysseus. I shall link the whole cover in my bio. I hope you enjoy this cover! 💐😄🎶❤️🪈🩷🌹
